For mediation practices

Keep the agreement working long after the last session.

Shared Steps is digital aftercare you can offer every family you mediate. The arrangements they settled with you become the plan both homes follow day to day, and when something needs revisiting, they have a clear way back to you.

  • Neutral between parents
  • You only see what parents send you
  • Works with your case system

Aftercare for your families, in under a minute

From the day the file closes to the day a family asks you for a review.

You help a family reach an agreement. Then they're on their own with it.

The first changed handover, the unexpected cost and the holiday nobody planned for all happen after the file is closed. Without somewhere to work them out, small questions turn into old arguments, and families either drift from what they agreed or come back to you in conflict.

Shared Steps gives them that somewhere. It keeps your practice part of the family's story as a steady presence in the background, not a monitor.

How aftercare works with your practice

From the moment a case moves into aftercare to the day a family needs you again.

  1. 1

    A case moves into aftercare

You send the family's details: both parents' email addresses, their child, the arrangements they settled and a review date.

  2. 2

    Each parent is invited

Both parents get their own invitation from your practice and sign in with that email address. Neither sets it up for the other.

  3. 3

    The agreement becomes their plan

What they settled stays on record as agreed in mediation. Day-to-day changes happen between them as proposals.

  4. 4

They come back when the arrangement needs it

Everyday changes are settled between the parents. When the arrangement itself needs looking at again, they can ask your practice for a review.

You see what a family asks you for. Nothing else.

Shared Steps isn't a monitoring tool, and it never makes you a referee between two messages or over a swapped weekend. Parents settle day-to-day changes between themselves. Your team hears from a family when they want the arrangement itself reviewed, and the request arrives ready to act on.

Reaches your team

  • Requests for a review, and who sent them
  • Why they're asking, in the parent's own words
  • What they'd like to happen next

Stays with the family

  • Their messages to each other
  • Private calm-check suggestions
  • Day-to-day proposals, costs, check-ins and tasks
Review of the arrangementSending

Taylor family asked by Mum

Why they're asking
“Sam starts secondary school in September and the new timetable doesn't fit our weekday arrangement. We'd like to look at it again together.”
Outcome they'd prefer
A review session in August, before term starts.

The family sees this as Reviewing until your team responds.

An example request. Nothing is booked or charged until your team has looked at it.

Built to protect the trust families place in you

  • Neutral, like you

No account holder and no primary parent. Nothing on screen favours one home, so recommending it never compromises your impartiality.

  • Your agreement, kept intact

The arrangements settled in mediation stay on record as agreed. Changes sit beside them as proposals, so nobody quietly rewrites the original.

  • A reason to come back

The review date you set is in the family's plan from day one, and asking for a review is always one step away when life changes.

  • Calmer between sessions

Messages are tied to what they're about and supported by a private, optional calm check. Nothing is scored or blocked.

  • Fits your case system

Families can be set up from the case records you already keep, and requests can flow back into them. We'll work through the details with you.

  • Access you can include

Choose how long access is included in your aftercare, so families start with no sign-up hurdle while the agreement is fresh.

Questions practices ask us

Will we be expected to watch what families do in the app?

No. Your team only receives what a parent chooses to send as a request for support. Their messages, check-ins and costs stay between the two of them.

What if only one parent takes up the invitation?

Each parent is invited separately and joins on their own terms. The plan is there for whoever joins first, and the other parent can join from their own invitation when they're ready.

Does it replace review sessions?

No. It helps families manage between sessions and makes it easier for them to come back to you when something needs revisiting, rather than letting it build.

Is it suitable for every family?

It's designed for parents who have reached an agreement and can communicate safely. As with mediation itself, it isn't the right tool where there are safety concerns between the parents; please use your usual screening.

Does Shared Steps carry our practice's branding?

Invitations come from your practice, so families know who is recommending it. The app itself stays Shared Steps, so every family gets the same consistent experience wherever they started.

What does it cost?

Partnership terms depend on the size of your practice and how you'd like to include access for families. Book a call and we'll talk it through. Families who join on their own can see our pricing for parents.

Talk to us about offering Shared Steps

Tell us a little about your practice and we'll arrange a short call: a walkthrough of what families see, how setup works, and what partnering could look like for you.
